Our children’s ministry units are designed specifically with children’s ministry workers in the local church in mind. We believe one of the most vital ministries in the life of the church is teaching our children to live gospel-shaped lives. Establishing strong theology in our children will set them up well to navigate the increasingly complex society they live in.

Units with a specific children’s ministry focus can be studied within the Graduate Certificate of Divinity or the Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry at QTC. For those studying at Undergraduate level, a maximum of 36 credit points of the Children’s Ministry coded units (out of 48 credit points total) can be included in the AUT’s Undergraduate Certficate of Ministry. UCMin students must also study one Bible or theology overview unit within their course.

See the Australian University of Theology website for full details of the Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry and the Graduate Certificate of Divinity.

Specialisation Description

These units are specifically designed for church volunteers and staff, at any level, who are passionate about helping kids in local churches engage with the Bible and know and love God more.

A focus of these units is giving kids ministry leaders the confidence, understanding, and skills to engage children with the Bible, and faith.

The units are offered on a 2 year cycle and are delivered by area experts in topics such as teaching kids the Old and New Testaments; spiritual formation in children; discipleship at different ages and stages; teaching theology to children; identity, culture & truth for children; and evangelism & world mission.

Within this suite of units, there are individual units which would also be helpful for those who teach Religious Instruction in schools, as they help kids navigate ethics, identity, and culture in society.

QTC’s aim is to provide top class theological training that faithfully applies the Word of God to the real world. We seek to do this as a real living Christian community, and as part of a wider Christian fellowship here in Brisbane.

We acknowledge with respect the Traditional Custodians of this land on which we now meet. In his wisdom and love, our Heavenly Father gave it to the Turrbal and Jegera people (see Acts 17:26). On this land, they met for generations before the coming of British settlers. As we now live together here, we pray that God would reconcile and unite us in a knowledge of his Son, Jesus Christ.

QTC is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland and is an affiliated college of the Australian University of Theology. (Australian University of Theology CRICOS CODE 02650E)
