The PhD is a research doctorate normally involving a thesis of around 80,000 words. QTC offers expert supervision in a number of areas of theological study, with particular strengths in Old Testament studies, Biblical Theology, Patristics and Historical Theology.

The minimum duration of PhD candidature is three years (6 semesters), and the maximum duration of PhD candidature is 6 years (12 semesters).

The course is accredited within Australia as an award of the Australian University of Theology, of which QTC is an affiliate.
