Borrowers need to register with the library and be issued a membership or library card. Membership of the Gibson-Radcliffe library is $40 per year. What can be borrowed? • General Collection: books available for 2 week loan with 2 renewals • Reserve Collection: books available for 1 week loan with 1 renewal • Closed Reserve Collection: No Loan – Library use only • Reference Collection: No Loan – Library use only • Print Journals: No Loan – Library use only • Online Journals: Available to QTC students and staff only from home or in Library
How to borrow
• Library members and students do their own borrowing. Ask for help if you are having trouble. • Open Library Catalogue • Click on Self Circulation at left of screen • Scan the barcode on the back of your library card/student card • Scan the barcodes of the books you are borrowing. The barcode is located in the top right hand corner of the back cover of the book. • Stamp the books with the due date • Click Finish to end your session.
Returning books • Returns are handled by the library staff. • Items should be returned in the returns slot at the front counter. • Overdue charges may apply for items returned after the due date.
How to renew your loans
• Open the library catalogue • Log in using your username and password • Click OPAC at the left of the screen • Select My Current Loans • Tick the loans you wish to renew • Click Renew Selected Loan or Renew All Loans if renewing all books out
Reserves If a book you need is out on loan, you may Reserve it and the library will notify you by email or phone, when the book is available for you to borrow. The book will be held for you at the Librarian’s office for 3 days or placed on your desk. • Open the Library Catalogue • Log in using your username and password • Click OPAC at left of screen • Search for book • Put a tick in the box near the book that is out • Select Reserve button at top right of screen. (Don’t select Request)
